4th Intercontinental Fencing Conference

The 4th International Fencing Conference was held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan in the first week of May 2024. Delegates and sports organizers from 110 countries from the whole world including Bangladesh participated in the conference.

Shoeb Chowdhury, President of Bangladesh Fencing Federation (BFF) represented Bangladesh in the summit. The delegates and guests of honour in the conference had discussions and exchanged views with each other about the further advancement of fencing on a global scale. A landmark agreement was signed during the conference between Pan-American Fencing Confederation, Asian Fencing Confederation and African Fencing Confederation for cooperation within these organizations for driving forward the game of fencing and build up skilled fencers across nations.
It may be added that fencing was introduced in Bangladesh back in 2007 but there was acute lack of efforts to promote the game during that time. When Shoeb Chowdhury was appointed by the government in the post of President, Bangladesh Fencing Federation in 2017, fencing gained a great deal of momentum in the country and a good number of fencing tournaments are organized every year. Under the leadership of Shoeb Chowdhury as President of Bangladesh Fencing Federation, Bangladeshi fencers won 11 medals in 2019 South Asian Games including one gold medal.
